Face lift / Neck lift

Facelift / Necklift

Facelift procedures are suited to patients who wish to rejuvenate their lower face and neck. With ageing, there is often an excess of skin in the lower face and neck, and also a loosening of the deeper tissue of the face. In a facelift, the deeper tissues are tightened, the skin is then re-draped and the excess is trimmed. Facelifts are done via carefully placed incisions in front of and behind the ear, to conceal the scars as much as possible.

The operation takes around 4 hours and the risks include scars, bleeding, infection, and asymmetries. Some patients will notice some contour irregularities and these usually settle with time. Other risks of facelifts include a small risk of damage to nerves in the region which can lead to numbness of the ear or weakness in moving parts of the face. They usually resolve with time.

Time Scale

Patients usually stay in the hospital overnight and may have drains. You will be seen in the follow-up clinic by Mr Marlborough after 1 week for suture removal, and then again at 2 weeks, 6 weeks and 6 months.
