Fergal Marlborough

Consultant

Fergal Marlborough is a Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive, Aesthetic and Head and Neck surgeon based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. He has over 10 years of experience in Plastic Surgery. Mr Marlborough qualified from the University of Edinburgh Medical School and subsequently completed 2 years as a junior doctor there. He then moved to the North East to Newcastle-upon-Tyne to undertake his basic surgery training followed by his 6 year Plastic Surgery Training Program. Mr Marlborough has trained in all areas of Plastic, Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgery.

  • In March 2020 he undertook the FRCS (Plast) consultant examination and was awarded the Ian McGregor Medal for the highest mark in this exam. After completing his training in the North East, Mr Marlborough did a post CCT international Fellowship in complex microsurgery in Perth, Western Australia.
  • He moved back to the UK as a consultant at Royal Preston Hospital, where he was based for 2 years, prior to relocating back to the North East where his consultant practice is now based. Mr Marlborough's main interests are head and neck surgery and reconstruction following cancer and trauma, skin cancer and limb reconstruction. He also sees patients with burn injuries and requiring hand surgery. Mr Marlborough is fully registered with the GMC and can be found on the Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery.
  • As well as his clinical practice, Mr Marlborough regularly undertakes teaching of junior surgeons and medical students within the plastic surgery department. He also teaches the North East International Flap Dissection Course and the Preston microsurgery course, as well as previously running the mock FRCS (Plast) exam in Preston.
  • Mr Marlborough offers appointments for patients wishing to have breast and body surgery as well as facial and eyelid surgery. He also performs hand surgery and skin cancer surgery and reconstruction.
