Breast Augmentation

Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation is done using breast implants. It is performed under general anaesthesia and usually takes around 2 hours.

After a detailed consultation and assessment by Mr Marlborough, an appropriate plan can be made. Discussion will include type of implant, placement of the implant (under the muscle or above the muscle), incision placement (usually in the infra-mammary fold), and the risks and potential complications of breast augmentation surgery. Risks include scarring, infection, bleeding and more specific implant risks that will be discussed at your appointment.

If you are considering breast augmentation surgery and would like to discuss things further, please feel free to contact us for a consultation with Mr Marlborough.

Time Scale

Patients can normally go home the same day as the procedure with simple analgesia and advice on what to do if there are any concerns. You will be seen in follow-up clinic by Mr Marlborough after 1 week, and then again at 2 weeks, 6 weeks and 6 months. Patients usually require 2 weeks off work and can expect to be back to normal activities after approximately 6 weeks.
